Urmston
has a population of over 40,000 and its
town centre is at the heart of the
community. Urmston is Trafford’s smallest
town and as such retains a friendly
village style atmosphere and a large
number of family owned, well established
businesses that offer a range of
specialist and unique goods and services.
With good access links by train, bus and
road and Junction 9 of the M60 only a
short drive away, Urmston has a 60 minute
drive time catchment area of around 6
million people and is a desirable location
for residents, businesses and investors.
The £43 million redevelopment of Urmston’s
main shopping centre will increase its
attraction.
The area is home to excellent grammar,
secondary, primary and infant schools
which as part of the successful Trafford
educational system have proven to be a
draw to homeowners.
Urmston is also close to other amenities
such as Trafford General Hospital
(formerly Park Hospital) which saw the
symbolic inauguration of the National
Health Service in 1948. There are also
nearby leisure facilities and open spaces.
Urmston's state of the art new library
opened in June and offers much more than
just books, with opportunities for people
wanting computer access as well as a
specially designed children's corner, a
Learning Centre, Access Trafford - a one
stop shop for Council services and
flexible, modern meeting rooms or
exhibition space available for hire.
Recycling facilities are available at Park
Road North car park and also Manor Avenue.
For details of what can be recycled at
these sites and all other sites,
visit
the Council website. |
